Skylar asks: I’ve been on the Atkins diet for a month now and was thinking about having a day to cheat. Basically a day where I pig out on carbs, will this ruin the diet? If I get back on it the next day, will my body still burn fat?

You would be fine, BUT………….I did this with Nutrisystem.
I had lost 25lbs. in 2.5 months. I was doing AWESOME!
I thought I would take a weekend off, 2 days!
I haven’t been able to get back on it since :o(
My motivation is gone and I wish I wouldn’t have gone off.
I would say keep going on your plan, when you reach your goal, THEN take your day off, but be careful!
Go ahead and cheat! And I only say that because the Atkins diet can be very detrimental to your body. Your body neeeeeeds complex carbohydrates!!!!! Eat them. In fact, a diet rich in WHOLE grains (I’m talking brown rice, quinoa, bulgar, not wonder bread!) and fruits and vegetables is the best way to maintain or acheive a healthy weight. The Atkins diet is far too rich in protein, too low in fiber, and can overtax your liver. Balance is key. Extremes will cause damage to your body!
It wont completely ruin it but it will definitely slow up your progress. seriously, how is a cheat day going to help you? dont wimp out and stick to your diet. i know its hard, but you will feel good when you lost that weight.
It will screw it up. The low to no carb period is forcing your body to burn fat and carbs. If you eat some then you are pretty much undoing that and you may have to re-start that period.
