it’s a plant from Africa that the Kalahari bushmen chew on when they will be away from home for an extended period of time ( like a hunting trip )…to curb their appetite
here’s a link to the CBS new report about it:
It’s called marketing…even doctors are guilty of this.
I have personally experimented withhoodia and found it to be quite beneficial. (When taking the standardized 20:1 ratio which is more pure form hoodia)
It is great as an appetite supressant, as the previous post said it was origionally used by bushmen to supress hunger on long journeys.
It is also good for those who are hypo-glycemic such as myself, since it does not offset your blood-sugar. It actually makes you crave healthier foods. I lost about 15-20 lbs.
I suggest the brand “NOW”
Hoodia is an Appetite Suppressant that contains NO Caffeine or Ephedra.. small amounts of Hoodia can make the brain think that you’ve eaten satisfactory amounts food. Hoodia doesn’t work on your stomach to reduce your hunger, it works on your brain.
Is Hoodia Safe?
Hoodia is a plant which has grown naturally in the Kalahari desert for at least 10,000 years and has been used by the SAN bushmen for centuries. There are no known side effects. Each bottle we ship is packaged at an FDA approved facility, with humidity control and bottle inserts to remove the risk of mold, then security sealed and capped. Hoodia is classified as a food in South Africa, and is often eaten as part of the traditional diet of the indigenous people.
As a dietary supplement for adults only. 2 capsules 1 hour before each meal are suggested. Initially take 6 - 8 capsules per day for 5 - 7 days to train your body and immediately cut down on your cravings. After that, most people achieve good results using 1 - 3 capsules a day about 1 hour before meals. Always take with lots of water to speed absorption. Use as part of a balanced diet and exercise regime for fastest results.
Doctors have been trained to use man made medicines (which amazingly enough, have been developed from herbal remedies). They are very wary of anything that doesn’t come in a prescription, and sadly, they don’t bother to learn about herbal supplements. And think about this - do the doctors make any money if you’re in good health?
I’m taking a supplement called Herbalean, and it contains Hoodia for appetite suppression as well as Ephedra, which was unbanned this year and is now legal. It also contains 77 trace minerals and herbs, so it’s a pretty well rounded formula.
I was at a point where I snacked all the time, and combined with long hours at work and hardly any exercise, I was gaining weight pretty quickly. Since I’m taking Herbalean, I’ve started losing weight again even though I haven’t been able to get more exercise. I also don’t have any snack cravings during the day, and the Ephedra gives me an all day energy boost.
I tried 100% Hoodia and……
Hoodia has worked for me…and with no side effects.
Check with your doctor before starting any weight loss program.

**** VERY IMPORTANT NOT TO GET RIPPED OFF —
#1. Be sure you are buying pure Hoodia…look for the import certificate on the website. No matter the price, if they do not display this, you really do NOT know what you are getting!
#2. Be sure it is 100% Hoodia & not mixed w/other herbs, etc.!!
#3. Keep in mind it stops your hunger pangs…you MUST remember to break your habit to always eat at certain times.
#4. Drink a full 8oz. glass of water with it!
Hoodia (HOOD-ee-uh) gordonii - A genus of 10 to 20 species from southwestern Africa.
Hoodia gordonii is the stoneage wonder plant found throughout the dry arid regions of the South western African continent now on the verge of making history in the fight against obesity. It is a genus belonging to the Asclepiadaceae family which consists of approximately 20 species. Used to stop hunger, quench thirst, and provide energy among other things since prehistoric times, Hoodia gordonii was first discovered by the San tribesmen and women to get through the most difficult of times.
