atkins diet
Miracle asks:

I am at the first phase of the Atkins diet and although I have lost 5lbs and just 3 days. Im already running out of ideas. My roommate and I are on it together and although we have been resisting the cravings we are having trouble scraping together ideas for breakfast lunch and dinner. And we are paranoid about the carbs and sugar in everything we eat! Any suggestions besides bacon omeletts and fajita meat?

There’s chicken and seafood, eggs and cheese, I guess any kind of dairy. Whole wheat bread and wraps are low in carbs. Anything goes good in a pita!

Great start! It’s been 4+ years since I was on the 1st phase so I don’t remember exactly what you can have. Less than 20 carbs a day is all I seem to remember. However, in case you haven’t already found it, the following website will give you tons of info on Atkins and low-carbing in general. It was a lifesaver for me when I started. Ask questions, get recipes (tons!), meet people, etc. The 2nd link is directly to the recipe area.

I do remember one quick, little snack.

    Cheese Crisps
Take a slice of American cheese, sprinkle with tiny bit garlic or onion powder (or other seasoning), cut it into about 4 strips and microwave until it starts to brown. The time varies so start checking at about 20 seconds, check, cook more if needed. Let set for about 20 seconds when they are brown and they will turn nice and crispy. I could be way off on the time - it could be a minute, but start with one piece of cheese and you haven’t really wasted much if you don’t like it or it overlooks a bit.

    Good luck!

My field is in fashion, as a result many people ask me how they can slim down. My answer is always the same: good diet and exercise. But I found this great product which I think helps a lot in the process. I recommend you check this website , they have a free trial and you only pay 6.95$ shipping and handling. Good luck!

You can brown ground beef, and just kind of add things to it that you like. (Cheese, black olives, whatever..and I always doused mine with ranch dressing.
You can also make “low carb pizza” by using ground beef as the “crust” of your pizza, and mustard/mayo/splenda as the sauce, and then pizza toppings. Yummy! SOOO good!
You can also make low carb meatloaf. Don’t use bread crumbs, use crushed up Pork Rhines instead to absorb the fat. Then layer the top with the creamy mustard/mayo/sweetner mixter.. SOOO good also!
I also loved putting FRENCHS deep fried onions on top of salads. Low in carbs, and Really makes salad more enjoable.
I also crunched up pork rhines, and added 1 egg and a splash of cream to make a “pancake” batter. Just fry it up and use sugar free syrup on it. Tastes just like a pancake, not at all like pork rhines.
I also loved to eat peanut butter on celery for breakfast. Kind of gave me that “sweet” breakfast feeling.
Also, don’t forget you can use smoked sausage (the kind already to eat by the jerky section) and dip it in the sweet mustard/mayo mixture GREAT!
Or make the egg dish that you bake with your choice of meats, and cheese, to make like a keish without crust. Very good also (loved to top with ranch myself)

Goodluck! I couldn’t stick with that diet more than 3 weeks without going crazy. And I only lost weight the first time I did it. After that my body kind of became resistant to it and I just stalled on weightloss. Hopefully you’ll have better luck!
    Heather~
