Is there an inexpensive home remedy for colon cleansing?

November 11, 2008

Cheyenne asks:

I’ve been doing a little research on those colon cleansing kits and they seem like the way to go for a healthier system. I work out regularily & have begun eating better. These kits are believed to eliminate toxicity and waste from the body, reduce stress from our vital organs (liver, colon, kidneys, blood, skin, etc.) and support the rejuvenation of the immune system. This all sounds great, B U T…..EXPENSIVE/!/ I just wondered if anyone knew any safe home remedies that might work as well?

  1. Sydnie:

A friend of mine- who just passed away in March at the age of 100- used to swear by drinking a cup of plain hot water (the temperature of coffee or tea, I don’t know what temperature that is) every day.

I have no clue if it works, but she obviously lived a long time and never had any colorectal problems.

What’s more expensive is having part of a diseased colon removed.

My suggestion is to not look at it in terms of the product “doing something.” When you take that approach, you end up with the ignorant lurkers on this board telling you that the colon does not benefit from cleansing.

Instead look at it from the standpoint of providing your body with the necessary components of a healthy diet that are not provided by a food supply that is, according to the USDA, over 90% processed and refined.

When you provide your diet with the things your ancient ancestors received on a regular basis, healthy function is the result.

In contrast, a diet that is largely void of those things will not provide you with healthy function. Western medicine does not have diagnostic proceedures for this lack of wellness until you have accute symptoms.

Western medicine provides amazing technology that saves lives but it is not, by definition of the word ‘allopathic,’ designed to support healthful function prior to diagnosis.

As for products, I think the Dr Natura Colonix product is the best colon support product out there.

P.S. The above person is onto something. Published reports suggest that over 75% of the population is chronically dehydrated. This is something that isn’t “diagnosed” because it’s a low-grade chronic situation. It does mean that you can benefit by paying attention to your fluid intake every day.

Psyllium hulls in powder form that you mix with water 2 to 3 times per day, drink lots of water, eath lot of fiber and raw vegetables, take acidophilous. this would be a good minimum to start. After about 2 weeks you can reduce psyllium to teice daily and discontinue the acidophilous.

You may wish to do a juice fast for the first day or two if you have a juicer and can access fresh vegetable juice, not v8 or sugary fruit juices.

This is not the most complete or exhaustive cleanse but it is a good basic start and the psylliun, water, fiber, vegetables part of it can be maintained for life. In the long run cunsistent healthy practices win out over occasional extremes anyway.

Both colon cleansing drinks and colon irrigation (hydrotherapy) help to detoxify your gut system. Fiber-rich diets are one way to make sure your system stays clean.

As far as I know, home-based detox solutions do as good a job as anything else in the market. An option worth trying is this:

It’s not a kit but it’s fast and effective.

  7. Brina:

I use 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar, honey to taste and 8 oz hot water 5-6 times a day.

Check out the website below for some good information. I started the program and my colon was cleansed within a few days.

All these kits are unnecessary although they probably do work.

If you want something really cheap and that has a lot of other health benefits as well all you need is apple cider vinegar. 30 to 60 ml a day should be enough.

High strength liquid chlorophyll is probably even better but not as cheap and also has a lot of other health benefits.

Stanley Burroughs has a booklet called “The Master Cleanser” it’s about $6.50. It has the “Lemonade Diet” and the Salt Water Cleanse.

I’ve had terrific results with this for bowel cleansing. Totally inexpensive and natural and does NOT require enemas, colonics, etc.

Get it, read it and decide.
