Is it normal to have frequent diarrhea when I drink Green Tea?

February 24, 2007

Annabella asks:

I’ve just started on the green tea diet and I often get diarrhea. Is that the BOWEL MOVEMENT out of my system?
I drink 3 cups of green everyday and I do a 4 mile run everyday along with situps, e.t.c. Is there something wrong?

It’s normal It’s cleaning out all the bad things in your body. It will stop eventually

  2. Isabel:

Warm liquids make bowels move faster.

  3. Tatum:

No, you can’t stand the green tea. Stop it and drink maybe some other tea.

Check with your doctor, I don’t think it is, i drink green tea alot, nothing like that has happened to me

  5. Johana:

No, that is not normal. get some fiber in your diet.

  6. Claudine:

Almost all teas are natural, so there will be a natural digestive action behind them.

sometimes when you go on ______ diets - they make you have diarrhea to help you loose weight quicker.

so there is nothing wrong with you.

  7. Shania:

That is just what green does. It cleanses out your system . Some people calls it a diet tea. In which basically no substance is left in your body.?

  8. Kailee:

Stop drinking green tea for a week see what happens if nothing changes you know its not green tea thats affecting you

  9. Karli:

I drink it all the time and thank God that this doesn’t happen to me.

  10. Eileen:

    NO! NOT NORMAL!
This diet is seriously doing damage to your system.
Diets are awful…. you need to boost the exercise and just eat slowly.
You can try and get the weight off quickly but I PROMISE YOU IT WILL NOT WORK!
    Healthy diet- lifestyle change!!!
Else you will put it all back on.
Don’t diet ever- just change your eating habits and exercise levels for the better and the weight will slowly drop off without you suffering! I promise you.

Of course..it is worst as eating a full Dominator at Dominos Pizza…FUCHI…

  13. Cloris:

No, same thing happens to me. You might try having the tea with food (if the diet permits that), or easing into the full daily amount more gradually. If that doesn’t work, you may have to give up the green tea and choose something else that produces the desired effect.

  14. Emilia:

    Yea!!!!!!

  15. Meadow:

If you are new to green tea, you might cut your intake back until your body adjusts to it. It does have some wonderful benefits for cleansing toxins out of your system; however diarrhea is one of the “side effects” of this cleansing process.

Two cups a day for the first 7-10 days would allow your body to adjust better.

  16. Gia:

Like M G said… get some for fiber in your diet… it should come out solid… not liquid… try a diffrent tea for a while and see what happens…
