The basics of Yoga

Yoga is comprised of a series of poses (or exercises) in India they are referred to as asanas. The first benefit most people experience is a reduction in stress and more energy, in large part this is due to the improved circulation from your new Yoga program. Another wonderful aspect of Yoga is how smooth it is, one move just flows to the next. Yes! No bouncing, no jerking, just smooth, gentle movements which provide the body a way to really get into the workout without being forced into positions that cause pain. And since you don’t need any equipment to do Yoga, you can do it anytime, anywhere! You could even do your breathing exercises while waiting in the car to pick up your kids. You can start to have more energy by simply doing Yoga a few minutes each day what other exercise program can give you that type of a result?

A few suggestions:

Yoga is best practiced on an empty stomach, however you should not feel hungry when starting the workout either. But if you need a snack before your workout, try eating a piece of your favorite fruit to tie you over. And if you can, practice Yoga in a quite place where you can focus on the exercise you are doing to get the full benefit of Yoga. If you cannot get a full Yoga workout in because you are short on time, that’s fine but try to find a few moments in your day to stretch and breath. It’s also a good idea to have a few workout videos handy so that you have a variety of workouts that vary in length and intensity.

By doing Yoga just a few times a week you will reap rewards such as reduced stress, a more sculpted abs and legs, and better posture. How great would it be to be stress-free? And you can have that! All you need is a few minutes and a Yoga exercise video and you are on your way to living a better life.
